Working capital for POS agents, repaid from their own settlements.
Nkwanite gives microfinance banks the data and the plumbing to lend to POS agents and small retailers. We score each merchant from their terminal history, and a share of each day's settlement repays the loan before the merchant is paid. The bank lends. We run the technology.
How a loan runs
Each loan is a short working-capital tranche, sized to how the merchant's terminal actually trades.
Offer
We set a limit from the terminal's transaction history. The merchant accepts, and the partner bank disburses.
Daily split
Each day, an agreed share of settlement goes to the loan before the rest is paid out to the merchant.
Close
When the balance reaches zero, deductions stop. The bank gets a full record of every repayment.
Who does what
The bank is the lender. Nkwanite is the technology underneath it.
Partner bank
A licensed microfinance bank
- Holds the licence and lends the money
- Owns the loan and the customer relationship
- Approves credit policy and limits
Nkwanite
Scoring, settlement instructions and reconciliation
- Scores merchants from terminal data
- Instructs the daily split at settlement
- Reconciles every repayment and reports to the bank
- Never holds merchant or loan funds
Risk controls built into every loan
Lending to agents fails when identity is loose and limits are guesses. These are the checks that stop that.
One identity, one exposure
Merchants are matched by BVN and NIN, so one person can't borrow separately on several terminals.
Limits from real trading
Limits come from settled transactions, not self-reported income.
Reserve and cover
Every loan carries a default reserve and credit-life insurance.
A record the bank can audit
Every split is logged against the loan, so the bank can trace any repayment back to the settlement it came from.
